Housing

· Emergency – Emergency shelter offering men, women, and families access to emergency housing, case management, and supportive services. To access our emergency housing, call 2-1-1.

·  Transitional – time-limited housing and supportive services programs.

·  Rapid Re-housing Programs (RRHP) – individuals and families at immediate risk of homelessness or already homeless can gain access to short-term housing subsidies.

·  Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) – long-term, affordable housing in individual apartments and shared homes for individuals and families who are at risk of homelessness or living with significant disabilities

·  Licensed Community Residences/ Group Homes – long-term communal housing for individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness who would otherwise be homeless or institutionalized

· Veteran-Specific – veterans and their families have access to transitional and permanent supportive housing that is specifically designed to meet the needs of chronic, homeless and at-risk veterans

·  Low-Income/ Mainstream – low-income individuals and families can access a variety of high-quality, affordable apartments throughout the CoC. This program has some guidelines that have to be met in order to apply. 

 

Employment

·  Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program (HVRP) – a program designed to help homeless veterans gain and maintain employment in the community which is operated by Goodwill Industries of Central Florida.

· Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Employment Services – a unique employment program designed to help individuals gain and maintain employment by working with a professional employment specialists that can help with resume writing, job search and development, and job retention.

 

Supportive Services

·  Homeless Prevention – utility payments, financial assistance and other supportive services to help quickly gain and maintain permanent housing.

 

Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) Program is designed to promote housing stability among very low-income Veterans families (below 50% Average Median Income (AMI)) who reside in or are transitioning to permanent housing.  Eligible households may receive case management and/or assistance in order to obtain and/or maintain stable housing. 

 

Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem (GPD) Program provides grants and per diem payments (as funding is available) to help public and nonprofit organizations establish and operate supportive housing and service centers for homeless Veterans.

 

Grant and Per Diem / Transition In Place Program places veterans in transitional housing, while also providing support services and case management to enable veterans to work and rebuild their lives.  

 

 

HUD-VA Supportive Housing (VASH) Program is a joint effort between the Department of Housing and Urban Development and VA. HUD allocated nearly 38,000 “Housing Choice” Section 8 vouchers across the country. These vouchers allow Veterans and their families to live in market rate rental units while VA provides case management services. A housing subsidy is paid to the landlord on behalf of the participating Veteran.  The Veteran then pays the difference between the actual rent charged by the landlord and the amount subsidized by the program.  Learn more about the HUD-VASH Program.
